Medallion 5- Bharhut Series

Medallion Style: Plant

The fifth medallion places the central lotus within an inner border shaped like a twisted creeper. Surrounding it, the outer frame takes the form of a meandering lotus rhizome, its nodes sprouting blue lotuses (utpalas) and buds at regular intervals. The design gives the illusion of flowing water—waves that cradle and sustain the bloom. I chose to paint the blue lotus in a very pale shade, almost white, to create a soft, soothing atmosphere. Among all 28 medallions, this one remains my personal favourite for its balance of rhythm, calmness, and life.
