Medallion 25- Bharhut Series
This medallion presents a central lotus, encircled by a garland-like wreath of alternating blooms—one lotus followed by two utpalas. The repetition forms a rhythmic circle of devotion, soft and elegant in design.
Looking at this motif, one might see more than ornamentation. If we take the central lotus as a symbol of the Buddha, the surrounding garland could be read as a humble offering, much like how flowers are placed at the feet of a teacher or deity.
Whether seen as sacred symbolism or artistic arrangement, the medallion embodies a quiet reverence, balancing simplicity with depth.
