Maa Chitrakrom- Ashray (আশ্রয়)

Ashray (আশ্রয়)

Shelter

The second artwork in Maa Chitrakrom reflects on motherhood as a shelter.

Many of the mother-and-child figures portrayed everyday moments of care. One of them showed a child asleep in the mother's arms. It made me think about how a mother can feel like a home. A place of warmth, safety, and rest, where the worries of the world fade away, even if only for a while.

In Ashray, the child sleeps peacefully within the curve of the mother's arm. The title "Ashray" translates to "Shelter." The corner composition became an important part of expressing that feeling. To me, a corner is a quiet and protected space. Here, it becomes a small home created by the mother's embrace.

If Matrisudha begins the journey with nourishment, Ashray gently moves it towards emotional security. It is about the comfort of knowing there is always a place where you are held with love.
